Sirajul Islam (65), executive director of NGO organization ‘IRA’ died in a head-on collision between a bus and a private car on the Sylhet-Sunamganj road.

The accident took place on Wednesday (August 2) in Mahtabpur Matsya Arat area of Lamakaji area on Sylhet-Sunamganj road.

The deceased Sirajul Islam is the son of deceased Abdul Hekim of Ukilpara village of Sunamganj Sadar police station.

The driver was injured in the incident. He is undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

According to police and eyewitness sources, a bus carrying passengers from Sylhet went to Mahtabpur Matsya Arat area of Lamakaji area of Biswanath Upazila on Sunamganj road and collided head-on with Sirajul Islam’s private car coming from Sunamganj. Siraj died on the spot. His driver was injured.

On receiving the information, the police of Jaikals Highway outpost went to the spot and rescued the injured and sent them to Osmani Hospital.
