The fauna of Cox’s Bazar’s Chakria Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park has become exhausted due to the intense heat of the past few days. The condition of different species of birds is fragile in intense heat. In summer, tiger-lion, deer, bear, zebra, hippopotamus and other animals are looking for relief under various trees and drowning in the water of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Park. The park authorities are also trying to protect the animals from the intense heat.

It has been found that the house has been filled with water inside the tiger-singh enclosure. Water is splashing around. The tiger-lion is drowned in that water house. Park watchers spraying camels with water from a pipe. Water is stored in drums at different spots in the park. So that tired animals and birds can drink water from that drum. Herds of hippos are drowning in lakes in their designated enclosures. Due to excessive heat, there are hardly any visitors in the park. The few that have been found are seen sitting under the shade of a tree, lying down.

Forester Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chakaria Bangabandhu Safari Park, said that carnivores and various species of animals and birds face a lot of problems in the intense heat. So we have taken various measures. Besides the cage house, we have arranged to provide additional water in drums. Caged animals are given water intermittently and vitamin C and dietary saline are given.

He also said that food is being given to them as per routine. Authorities are vigilant about the care of animals in extreme heat. Carnivores and birds suffer more due to intense heat during the months of Chaitra and Baisakh every year.
