On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day 2024 rally and discussion meeting was held with the theme “YES! WE CAN END TB“.

On Sunday (March 24) like every year, a colorful rally was taken out by the initiative of the Kushtia Civil Surgeon Office with all the officers and employees of the Civil Surgeon Office and representatives of various NGOs and social organizations.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Akul Uddin presided over the discussion meeting organized in the conference room of Kushtia Civil Surgeon office after the rally. He emphasized on increasing awareness among the people about tuberculosis eradication and its treatment and the progress of Kushtia district in tuberculosis diagnosis.

District Surveillance Medical Officer (DSMO) Dr. Naureen Alam Siza discussed tuberculosis under the overall responsibility of Civil Surgeon Office Program Organizer Ranjit Kumar Pal under the direction of Dr. Sazia Afrin, at this time BRAC Kushtia District Manager (TB) Abu Hanif Moral gave a welcome speech. Dr. Sharmin Akhtar, Medical Officer of Chest Disorders Clinic, BRAC Kushtia District Coordinator, Amresh Chandra Das etc. were also present at the time.

On March 24, 1882, Nobel laureate German physician Robert Cocke first discovered the tuberculosis bacterium, and 100 years after that, the first World Tuberculosis Day was celebrated in 1982. If cough is the main symptom of tuberculosis for more than two weeks, along with low-grade fever in the afternoon, loss of appetite, loss of body weight, etc., free tuberculosis test and medicine are available at the nearest health center.

Note that tuberculosis is a bacterial infectious disease. Airborne diseases are transmitted through sneezing and coughing. Lungs are mainly affected. If you are affected by this disease, it is important to take treatment at the right time. Otherwise the patient may die.
