The purchase price of dates per kg is 9.5 hundred taka and selling for 1383 taka! The profit of the shopkeeper per kg is 433 Tk. This irregularity was caught in the operation at Chottogram’s biggest fruit Market Falmandi.

Chottogram district administration found 100 tons of packed date stock in a cold storage in Falmondi. Several importers and wholesalers stocked these dates from August-September last year. These stored dates have been ordered to be marketed within the next 7 days. Otherwise these dates will be seized and sold at auction.

Also, 3 shopkeepers were fined for selling dates at high prices.

On wednesday (March 13) from Riazuddin Bazar to Phalmondi area to keep commodity prices stable during Ramadan. The operation was conducted from noon to afternoon under the leadership of District Administration Executive Magistrate Prateek Dutta. Agricultural marketing officer Morshed Quader and a team of Kotwali police station cooperated fully in the operation.

Apart from this, Safa Marwa Dry Fruits was fined Tk 5,000 and Aroba Enterprises was fined Tk 10,000 for not having a price list and not keeping purchase and sale receipts. Later, he was fined 30,000 taka for buying dates at 2850 taka and selling dates at 4150 taka in a shop called Ali General Store.
