Inauguration of modern forest office building at Kulaura
Staff Reporter: Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md. Shahab Uddin said, “Currently, the Forest Act was made by the British in 1927. Encroachment cannot be prevented by applying that law. We have taken the initiative to create a new law. The draft law will be proposed in the next parliament. If the law is passed, all forest problems will be solved.” He said these things during the inauguration ceremony of the modern building of the Range Office of the Forest Department at Gazipur in Kulaura on Saturday (February 11) as the chief guest. Kulaura Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mahmudur Rahman Khondkar presided. Sylhet Divisional Forest Officer Md Taufiqul Islam, Upazila Awami League President Rafiqul Islam Renu, Kulaura Municipality Mayor Sipar Uddin Ahmad, Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Department Divisional Forest Officer Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Upazila Parishad Women Vice Chairman Fateha Ferdous Chowdhury Poppy, Juri Upazila Vice Chairman Ringku Ranjan Das, Assistant Conservator of Forests (Srimangal) Md. Abu Bakr Siddique, Kulaura Range Officer Md. Riaz Uddin were present. Note that the building has been constructed at a cost of 38 lakh 75 thousand taka.
