Adaptation Measures to be Strengthened to Tackle Climate Impacts – Syeda Rizwana Hasan

Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, has said that the government will intensify climate adaptation efforts to address the impacts of climate change. Sustainable and science-based programs will be adopted and implemented to ensure the livelihoods and safety of people living in coastal, hilly, and drought-prone areas.

She made these remarks while chairing a meeting titled “Adaptation Initiatives in Climate Change” held on Sunday at the Ministry’s conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The Environment Advisor stated that the government is committed to initiating necessary adaptation projects. She emphasized that adaptation efforts will be designed and implemented based on local needs and realities, in coordination with relevant government and non-government agencies. To face the challenges of climate change, we must work together to build an integrated and inclusive adaptation framework, she added.

Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change; Mohammad Navid Shafiullah, Additional Secretary (Climate Change); Dharitri Kumar Sarkar, Joint Secretary (Climate Change); and officials from the ministry and NGO participated in the meeting. They shared views on current adaptation initiatives, challenges, and future actions.
