BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, ‘People have said no to the government in the presence of lakhs of people today despite the heavy rain. The people of the country do not want to see this government in power. They are doing all immoral things to stay in power. This government has taken away all the rights of the people. They want to come to power again by silencing the voice of the people.

He said these things in a short rally after the mass march organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North and South to demand the fall of the government in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office on Saturday afternoon. Earlier, the mass procession in the south of the metropolis ended from Dhaka Kamalapur station via Pirjungi shrine to Arambagh, Fakirapool to Nayapaltan. On the other hand, the mass procession started from Rampura Delta Hospital and passed through Hajipara, Malibag Chowdhurypara, Mouchak, Shantinagar and ended in front of Nayapaltan BNP office.

He said, today former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is being detained and pushed to death. He should be released immediately. All activists should be released. All false cases must be withdrawn.

Mirza Fakhrul also said, “Let us all unite.” The government will want to come to power by force. Everyone should be careful. Leaders and activists should take courage and come to the streets. A people’s government should be established through a united movement. Parliament should be abolished and people’s voting rights should be returned.

At the beginning of Mirza Fakhrul’s speech, when it started raining heavily, he cut short his speech. At the end of the speech, he chanted the slogan, “All political parties are together, together.”

BNP Standing Committee members Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Begum Selima Rahman, Adviser to the Chairperson Abdus Salam, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul spoke in the rally after the mass rally under the chairmanship of Dhaka Metropolitan North convener Aman Ullah Aman, member secretary Aminul Haque. Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, “Khaleda Zia has not been released yet. Attempts are being made to kill him. If Khaleda Zia can’t go abroad then no one in the government will be allowed to go abroad for treatment. Where are the workers today? Why can’t the movement succeed even today? Today, if everyone is in the field with oath, the police will not be able to return us home. If the workers fearlessly take to the streets, then Sheikh Hasina will have no choice but to give up her mattress.

BNP Standing Committee member Begum Selima Rahman said, “The current government has no more time.” Today, people are not able to eat their fill due to the increase in commodity prices. And the Prime Minister is traveling abroad by spending state money to maintain his illegal power.
