A shopkeeper died after being punched by a scoundrel for drinking tea

It has been alleged that a tea shopkeeper named Mosharf Hossain Fakir (50) died after being beaten up for eating tea in Narayanganj Sadar area.

The incident took place in Narayanganj Sadar Beparipara area around 10 am on Thursday (August 24). When he was brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a coma, the doctor declared him dead around 2:30 PM.

Deen-Islam, son of Musharraf, who died in the hospital, said that their home is in Kazira village of Ujirpur upazila of Barisal. Currently lives in a rented house in Narayanganj Sadar Beparipara area. His father Mosharof Hossain is a tea shopkeeper in Baparipara area.

He also said that a young man named Kauchar of the area sometimes drinks tea in his father’s shop and does not pay money. Even today he comes to his father’s shop to drink tea. Then his father said that he could not give the rest of the tea. Then the young man started arguing in the name of Kauchar. At one point he punched his father in the face and chest with a bullet. His father fell unconscious there. After receiving information, the father was taken to the local Victoria Hospital. He was given first aid and taken home. But he got sick again after going home. When he was brought to Dhaka Medical Center, the doctor declared him dead.

He said, Kauchar is a scoundrel. Does nothing professionally. They were forced to eat various foods including tea from various shops in the area without money. Kauchar fled from there immediately after the incident.

In charge (inspector) of Dhaka Medical Police Camp, citing the doctor. Bachchu Mia confirmed the death and said that the body has been kept in the morgue for post-mortem.
