The police arrested 12 gamblers including Shahid, the brother of a policeman who was dismissed in a rape case after raiding a gambling den in Chunarughat.

The arrested persons were handed over to the court on Saturday (March 25) afternoon.

Earlier on Friday (March 24) at 1.30 am at Jitu Mia’s house in Bongaon village of the upazila based on secret information, the officer in charge of the police station. SI under the leadership of Rashedul Haque. Zakir Hossain, ASI Uttam Kumar Ghosh, ASI Md. A group of police including Monir Hossain arrested them.

The arrested are Md Shahid Mia (28), son of Ramiz Ullya of Dudhpatil area of the upazila and brother of dismissed policeman Shiblur, who was recently jailed in a rape case, Rajab Ali’s son Raihan (20), Syed Ali’s son Siddique Mia (45), Taiyab Ali’s son Raju Mia ( 25), A: Kaushar Mia (27) son of Hashem, Ashkir Mia (40) son of Chabar Ali, Jitu Mia (65) son of deceased Yaqub Ali, Ah Ahad (50) son of Zahur Ali, A: Shishu Mia (son of Rashid Mia) 27), A: Hailim (38) son of Razzaq Mia, Ah Salam (42) son of Abdul Hakim, Ah Motalib (45) son of deceased Khurshid Mia. They all belong to the same village.
