Driver killed in Bandar Bazar, wife’s case

A case has been filed in connection with the murder of gas-powered auto-rickshaw driver Amirul Islam in Bandar Bazar area of Sylhet city. The victim’s wife Helena Begum herself filed the murder case at Kotwali Police Station on Thursday afternoon. A person involved in the incident has been charged in this case.
The accused murderer is Alamgir Hossain (35) of village Kalikuchcha of Sarail police station in Brahmanbaria district. He had been living in the Shahjalal suburb of Sylhet for a long time. However, immediately after the incident, the mob arrested Alamgir and handed him over to the police.
It has been reported that an altercation started between Amirul Islam and Alamgir Hossain after one person’s gas-powered auto-rickshaw collided with another’s car in front of the main post office in Bandarbazar at around 10 o’clock on Wednesday night. At one point, the two got involved in a fight. At that time, Alamgir kept killing, punching and kicking Amirul. Amirul fainted at this. Later, he was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.
The deceased is Amirul Islam (34), son of deceased Idan Mia of Kandigaon village under Jalalabad police station of Sylhet city. Recently he was living in Ghopal village of Jalalabad Tukerbazar area.
Kotwali police station OC Mohammad Ali Mahmud confirmed the truth of this matter.
