Virat Kohli’s new record surpassing Sachin

Kohli scored 20 runs from 31 balls on the third day of international cricket in the Delhi Test on Sunday. With this run, Kohli crossed 25 thousand runs in international cricket. Kohli became the sixth batsman in cricket history to reach this milestone in three editions. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting in this record.

No other cricketer before Kohli could reach this height in less innings. According to statistics, it took Sachin 577 innings to complete 25,000 runs in three editions of international cricket. Australia’s World Cup winning captain Ricky Ponting took 588 innings. On the other hand, Kohli played 28 less innings in 549 innings.

Sachin is still the highest run scorer in international cricket. His collection of 34357 runs in 664 matches. Next is Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara with 28016 runs in 594 matches, Australia’s Ricky Ponting with 27483 runs in 560 matches and Sri Lanka’s Mahela Jayawardene with 25957 runs in 652 matches.
