Collection of Zakat, donations and grants for the welfare of the needy and helpless patients of the society

A special seminar has been organized by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of Bangladesh, to raise awareness about the importance of Zakat from an Islamic perspective and how it can be used for the welfare of the poor and helpless people of the society.
The event, organized on March 10 at the Social Service Auditorium Hall in Dhaka, was attended by prominent figures, policymakers, social workers, researchers, and religious experts.
The main theme of the seminar, titled “Zakat, Donation Collection Programs and Islam, Importance and Significance of Zakat for the Welfare of the Distressed and Helpless Patients,” presented an important discussion on the role and potential of Islamic economics for the welfare of the underprivileged people of the society.
Honorable Advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain was present as the chief guest at the event.
Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Dr. Md. Mohiuddin, was present as the special guest.
The program was presided over by Mr. Md. Saidur Rahman Khan, Director General of the Department of Social Welfare.
Initiatives to alleviate poverty through zakat and donations.
In the seminar, *speakers discussed the significance and practical application of Zakat. Chief guest Dr. AFM Khalid Mosen said, “Zakat is one of the most important pillars of Islam. It is not only a religious duty, but also an effective way to maintain social justice and economic balance. Poverty alleviation is possible if Zakat is distributed properly.
Special guest Dr. Md. Mohiuddin said, “The government has already taken effective measures for the collection and distribution of Zakat.
We want the wealthier sections of society to come forward more and for zakat to be used for the treatment and improvement of the quality of life of the poor and helpless.
President, Md. Saidur Rahman Khan said, “The Ministry of Social Welfare has taken the initiative to formulate policies to improve zakat management at various charitable institutions and individual levels.”
Speakers at the seminar called for the proper use of Zakat, saying that if Zakat is distributed according to the instructions of Islam, the quality of life of the poor, orphans, and helpless people will improve.
Experts also emphasize the importance of launching digital platforms to ensure transparency and efficiency in zakat management.
The negotiators also proposed the creation of a central fund for zakat management, through which zakat donors can directly donate and beneficiaries can easily receive assistance.
The Ministry of Social Welfare’s initiative The Department of Social Welfare informed that the government is already working to ensure the proper use of zakat under various social security programs.
Representatives of various religious, social and charitable organizations of the country were present at the event. They expressed confidence in the government’s zakat management and called for active participation in zakat, donations and *grant programs.
