Latiful Azam, Kishoreganj (Nilphamari)

Garagram UP chairman Jonab Ali and UP member Hasibuzzaman Hasib are working nominally in BS para of Garagram union of Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari to collect the bill of Kabita project.

According to the office of the upazila project implementation officer, under the Rural Infrastructure Reform (Kabita) project for the financial year 2023-24, the road from the house of BS Para Mizanur Rahman of Ward No. 2 of Garagram Union to the house of Neshar Master (100 meters) will be bricked and paved. 3 lakhs tk have been allocated for filling the soil on both sides.

The project president hastily completed the work by using low-quality bricks and sand and tried to cover the fish with greens after throwing soil on top of the bricks. According to the work estimate, before starting the road work, the soil of the road (bet cutting) should be cut and dumped with sand and water in the excavated area, but the project president Hasibuzzaman Hasib did not do that.  According to the rules, the bricks of the saling were not placed on the road according to the local residents.

Although there is a rule to place bricks vertically on both sides of the road, the project president did not follow the rule.  Both sides of the road are supposed to be filled with soil, but because of this, the local people fill the soil on both sides of the road on their own initiative.

Sadekul Islam (70) son of Kashir Uddin of Garagram BS neighborhood and Dabir Uddin son of Achimuddin said, who listens to us. Maybe they won’t do this if we talk. No one from the office came and saw this work, father.  After the work, holes were left on both sides of the road.

Garagram Union Parishad Ward No. 2 member Hasibuzzaman said, I came to Dhaka for my personal work.  I will go home and take care of the work.

Garagram Union Parishad Chairman Jonab Ali said, I cannot say anything about this work.

Upazila project implementation officer Rashed uz Zaman said, if the quality of work is bad, the work will be done again and then the bill will be given.
