1 arrested, 44 bailed in connection with Awami League-BNP clash

44 leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations have been granted bail in the case of Mahir, the former secretary of Chhatra League, in connection with the clash between Awami League and BNP in Habiganj. Among them, the police arrested a worker named Abdullah Mia (45). He is the son of late Aptab Uddin of Baliakandi village.

Earlier, the former secretary of District Chhatra League Mahi named 87 people and filed a case against more than 150 unidentified leaders and activists.

Yesterday, August 31, Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice MD Aminul Islam gave a double bench order to 44 people.
The case was handled by Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Senior Advocate Ed Fazlur Rahman, Advocate Aminul Islam, Ed Sufia Akhter Helan.

Incidentally, as part of the central program demanding the unconditional release and medical treatment of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, police clashed with party leaders and workers on the afternoon of 19 August in the afternoon of Habiganj district BNP. About 300 hundred leaders and workers of BNP were injured in this incident which continued for two hours.

The next day in the afternoon of August 20, the leaders and workers of the district Awami League and affiliated organizations held a protest march and protest meeting in the city. After the protest meeting, the marchers started tearing the banners and festoons drawn in front of the district BNP office located in Shaistanagar area of the city. Then BNP leaders and workers came to the spot and stopped them and both sides got into a clash. At this time, the two sides chased and clashed for about two hours. Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas shells to bring the situation under control. Hundreds of leaders and activists of both sides were injured.
