Japa candidate complains about CSIC election agents being kicked out

Jatiya Party (JPA) candidate Nazrul Islam Babul cast his vote in the Sylhet City Corporation (CCIC) election on Wednesday around 9:30 am. He cast his vote at Anand Niketan Kendra in Subidbazar area of the city. Babul alleged that his agents were being kicked out from various centers after polling.

Nazrul Islam Babul said, ‘I am worried about the vote. My people are being threatened by the administration. I have received news that my agents are being expelled in various centers.

In response to a question, Babul said, “If the vote is fair, I will win.” But I don’t see any signs of improvement. Even before the polls, I am being pressured by various forms of propaganda against me. What is this a sign of?

CSIC polling started in the morning amid cloudy skies and rain. Voting is going on in 1 thousand 367 booths of 190 polling stations of CCC using EVM system. In addition to Awami League and Jatiya Party candidates for the post of mayor, independent former Chhatra League leader Md. Abdul Hanif Kutu horse symbol, Youth Dal leader. Chalah Uddin Rimon cricket bat symbol, Md. Shahjahan Mia is contesting on Bus symbol and Mushtaq Ahmed Rauf Mustafa on Deer symbol and Zaker Party’s Zahirul Islam on Rose symbol. In this, the candidate of the Islamic Movement withdrew from the election. 273 general councilors and 87 reserved councilor candidates are contesting the election.
