Srimangal Press Club organized a human chain and protest meeting to demand exemplary trial and punishment for the killers of journalist Nadeem.

Banglanews24.com’s Jamalpur District Correspondent Golam Rabbani Nadeem was killed on Thursday (June 15).

Expressing strong condemnation and protest against the incident, Srimangal Press Club President Biswajyoti Chowdhury and General Secretary Imam Hossain Sohail led a human chain and protest rally in inclement and rainy weather.

President of Srimangal Press Club and senior journalist Biswajyoti Chowdhury said in his speech, “UP Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu, who killed Jamalpur District Correspondent of Bangla News, Golam Rabbani Nadeem, was not handcuffed when he was arrested. But when one of our journalist brothers is arrested under the Digital Security Act, he is handcuffed. We, on behalf of Srimangal Press Club, would like to demand that the police handle the case smoothly, according to the law without leaving any loopholes, so that the miscreants do not escape the law in any way.

General Secretary of Srimangal Press Club, Imam Hossain Sohail said, “In the last 15 years, 23 journalists have been killed and 518 journalists have been injured. Out of these 23 slain journalists, only 8 have been tried and the families of 5 have rejected the verdict. We want the accused of Nadeem’s murder to be arrested, but the trial should be exemplary.

Senior journalist Syed Amiruzzaman, member of Srimangal Press Club and editor of RP News 24, said, “Corruption in the government has reduced a lot due to the investigative and analytical reports of district and upazila journalists. Two percent of the GDP has grown due to journalism alone. So whose credit (success)? State credit.’
