Reporters Unity organized a human chain in Habiganj to demand the execution of the killers of journalist Nadeem

A human chain was held in Habiganj to demand ‘proper investigation and fair trial’ of Banglanews journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem’s murder in Jamalpur.

Habiganj District Reporters Unity organized a human chain in front of the District Commissioner’s office on Sunday (June 18) at noon.

The speakers said that the state should ensure exemplary punishment by identifying those involved in the killing and torture of journalists across the country, including Nadeem’s murder. Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu and 12 others who planned the murder were arrested, but Sangpangas including the chairman’s son are still absconding. The journalist leaders demanded the quick arrest of the fugitive murderer and confirmation of the execution order of all the accused.

Under the chairmanship of Habiganj Reporters Unity president MA Hakim and general secretary MA Shail, former president of Habiganj Press Club Rasel Chowdhury, journalists Abdul Halim, Sharif Chowdhury, Faisal Chowdhury, SM Suruj Ali, Anisuzzaman Chowdhury Ratan, Jewel Chowdhury, Sahibur Rahman, Abdul spoke in it. Qadir, M Sajlu, Saifur Rahman Tarek, Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Shah Alam, Niranjan Goswami Shubo, Kajal Sarkar, Amir Hamza, Syed Salik Ahmad, Rubel Mia and Akhtar Hossain etc.

Incidentally, on the night of June 14, when he reached Pathatia in Bakshiganj on his way back home, 10 to 12 miscreants armed with weapons beat up journalist Nadeem and fled. Later the locals rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. Then he was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment from there at 12:00 pm. He was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on the morning of June 15 as his condition was critical. He died there around 3:30 pm while undergoing treatment.

In this incident, Monira Begum, wife of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem, became the plaintiff and filed a murder case with Bakshiganj police station, naming 22 people and naming 25 unknown people as the main accused.
