Independent mayoral candidate Abdul Hanif Kutu announced election manifesto in Sylhet City Corporation election. He announced the election manifesto through a press conference at his residence in Tilagarh of the city on Saturday.

In the press conference, Abdul Hanif Kutu announced the 15-point election manifesto and said, “I want to build this city as a smart, people-friendly city free from waterlogging and corruption with the cooperation and advice of the city dwellers.”

Abdul Hanif Kutu prioritized sanitation and beautification of the city in his election manifesto. In stages, he has addressed the city’s drainage and mosquito control, ensuring clean drinking and water, health care, waste management, development of education system, housing, sports and entertainment, traffic and congestion relief, environmental protection and greening, employment, ensuring smart city citizen services, media workers. He also emphasized on cooperation in overall development, taking initiatives to establish museums and art galleries to preserve heritage and culture, culture and the memory of liberation war and present it to future generations.

While presenting the election manifesto, he first highlighted his political and personal life and said, I am a child of a traditional family of Tilagarh in Sylhet city. My joys and sorrows are connected with the people of Sylhet city. I passed SSC from Syed Hatim Ali High School and HSC from Murarichand College (MC) in 1986. Before that I was elected VP in college student parliament election.

In the press conference, he complained, “I was fined for using two microphones in my campaign, but the Election Commission did not take any action against other candidates, especially those with boat and plow symbols, who repeatedly violated the code of conduct.” Other candidates in the CSIC elections are not following the instructions given by the Election Commission. They often violate the code of conduct. When I raised the issue of code of conduct violation to the Chief Election Commissioner in the meeting organized by the Election Commission on June 10, the Chief Election Commissioner took note of the matter and directed the Regional Returning Officer to take necessary measures. But it is not working till date.

Kutu said, any untoward incident can happen in the election. But I will not leave the election field under any circumstances. I have been tortured many times while doing politics. But I did not back down from my ideals. I have been with the people of Sylhet in any movement for the development of Sylhet, and I will remain with them.

Pointing to Awami League’s boat symbol candidate Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury in the press conference, Kutu said that he has resorted to fraud in his election affidavit. He mentioned BA (Honours) pass in the affidavit. Has he passed inter and honors from any college? According to my knowledge he passed SSC from Comilla and moved to UK. The election commission is responsible for checking these things, but for mysterious reasons, it was not done.

Regarding Jatiya Party’s plow symbol candidate Nazrul Islam Babul, he said that although the matter of his moral lapse has been publicized through various social media, the Election Commission has not taken any action against him so far.

He also said that those who have been doing politics in the fields of Sylhet for a long time are deprived and neglected today. In order to bring back transparency in Sylhet politics and to evaluate the field leaders, I participated in the mayoral election as an independent candidate in ‘Horse symbol’.
Abdul Hanif Kutu said, with the cooperation of all, if I am elected, I will make this city a world-class livable city by combining its tradition, culture, culture and modernity.

Md. was present at the press conference among others. Dilwar Hossain, Md. Nurul Haque, Md. Enamul Haque, Tarek Ahmad, Abul Khair, Musa Reza Chowdhury, Humayun Majid Titu, Samchul Ahmad and Abdul Hamid Joulus Chowdhury and others.
