A passenger plane has crashed in Tanzania’s Bukoba region. The plane crashed into Lake Victoria while attempting to land at Bukoba Airport.
The BBC quoted Tanzanian officials as saying there were 46 passengers on board. Out of this, 26 people have been rescued.
One of the runways at Bakuba Airport runs along the shores of Africa’s largest lake, Lake Victoria.
Tanzanian media reported that the plane was hit by heavy rain and storm after taking off from Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania. It then crashed into Lake Victoria.
Videos and pictures circulating on social media showed the plane almost sinking after crashing into the lake. Only the green and gray tail of the aircraft was visible.
