Wife and mother-in-law die of snake bite in Kushtia

Wife and mother-in-law died of snakebite on the same night in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia.
Daughter-in-law Kamrunnahar (17) and mother-in-law Zainab Begum (48) died when they were taken to Kushtia General Hospital on Tuesday (September 13) morning.
Munnaf Hossain, entrepreneur of Jayanti Hazra Union Parishad, son of Zainab Begum, said that at the same time at night, mother Zainab and younger brother’s wife Kamrunnaha reported that a snake had bitten her hand and scalp. They were taken to Upazila Health Complex early in the morning. Later the doctor referred to Kushtia General Hospital. At one stage of the treatment there, first Kamrunnahar and then Mar died.
Jayanti Hazra Union Parishad Chairman Saqib Khan Tipu said that after 2 o’clock on Monday night, the bride Kamrunnahar told her husband Habibul Bahar that something had bitten her on the scalp. Meanwhile, her mother-in-law Zainab Begum from the next room also told her husband Abdus Chattar that something had bitten her hand. . At night Ojha called and treated both of them. At one point around 6:30 in the morning, they were first taken to the Upazila Health Complex. After being treated there, they were shifted to Kushtia General Hospital when they fell seriously ill. After being taken there, first the daughter-in-law and later her mother-in-law died.
Khoksa Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Doctor Kamruzzaman Sohel said that both of them were brought to the hospital early in the morning in a state of confusion. They were initially thought to have been bitten by a snake. However, the matter was referred to Kushtia General Hospital for confirmation and better treatment. But it was too late and the poisoning spread throughout the body. Due to which it was not possible to save either of them.
