In Palashbari of Gaibandha, it has been alleged that Bhai Bayezid (4) was killed because he did not agree to marry his minor sister to a neighbor’s thief-drugged son.

On Saturday (May 13) around 9:30 pm, Raihana Begum, the mother of the deceased child, claimed this while lamenting in the courtyard of her house. He said that the son of Karbari Sirikul of neighboring Sud is a known thief in the Roman area. He is also addicted to drugs. Roman’s family was proposing marriage to my daughter Tisha, a student of class VIII. But as I did not agree to this, Roman threatened several times. As a result of this, he deliberately killed my son Bayezid.

He demanded the hanging of the accused. Along with this, he expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the role of Sub-Inspector Bulbul in charge of the local Harinabari Police Investigation Center to the Superintendent of Police. Gaibandha Superintendent of Police Kamal Hossain, who was present at the scene, assured to ensure exemplary punishment by bringing those involved in the incident under the law. He said that two people arrested earlier in this incident are in jail. Some members of the accused family have been detained for questioning on Sunday night in order to find out the real incident.

Earlier on Saturday (May 13) at around 6 pm, the police recovered Bayezid’s dismembered body from a vast paddy field in Taluk Ghorabanda Balukhola village of Manoharpur Union of the upazila. In this incident, the accused Sirikul’s residence was vandalized and set on fire by the angry residents. Later two units of Palashbari and Gaibandha Fire Service reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

Palashbari Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Raju Islam confirmed the matter and said that Bayezid, the son of Taharul Bepari, a Saudi expatriate of Ghorabanda Balukhola village of Taluk Ghorabanda Balukhola of Manoharpur Union of the upazila, went missing while playing near the house around 3 pm on Monday (May 8).

The next day, Tuesday (May 9), the child’s mother Raihana Begum filed a general diary (GD) at Palashbari police station in search of Bayezid. Despite efforts, no trace of the child could be found. Finally, on Saturday afternoon, two local men while working in the paddy field saw the half-melted body of the child and informed the police. Later, the dead body was recovered from the spot and sent to Gaibandha District Hospital morgue for autopsy.
