Sylhet Representative/

Presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that the Election Commission is committed to conduct the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation elections in a fair and impartial manner at any cost.

He made this comment as the chief guest at a staff meeting organized by Sylhet District and Metropolitan Awami League in an elite hall room of the city on Thursday (May 4) evening.

Nanak said, BNP is unhappy in this election after losing public support. Even though BNP says it on the face, inside it is desperate to field its favorite candidate. We would like to welcome BNP’s participation in the elections. But curse their duplicity. Awami League is an election oriented party. So, in this large party, more than one qualified candidate will want to participate in the election. But at the end of the day, everyone will work together for the party’s nominee. This is Awami League.

Addressing the party leaders and workers, Nanak said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has a special weakness towards Sylhet. That is why he has always shown sincerity in the welfare of the land and people of Sylhet. Even though there are no party people, he has given everything. But unfortunately the city dwellers are still suffering due to unplanned development. He called upon the party leaders and activists to enter the field in the election battle to protect Sri Bhumi Sylhet.

Regarding the late Badr Uddin Ahmad Kamran, former minister Nanak Nanak said, “Just as there are followers of Khandaker Moshtaq in the party, there are also fighters and martyrs of Mujibadarsh. Badr Uddin Ahmad Kamran, the guardian of this city, had to be defeated in the past days due to the forces of Mostak. He said, Awami League does not want to repeat that opportunity. Awami League will keep a watchful eye on the polling stations of the president and secretary in each ward of the party. Rewards and reprimands are kept according to the polling station results. Don’t do any activities that will affect Rangpur.

He also said that flocks of vultures are flying around the head. So it’s time for Mujib’s soldiers to fight. The battle bells have also been sounded. The sound that does not reach the ears, he is a failure. He is unfit for Mujibadarsh, unfit for Awami League. It should not be forgotten that the Awami League has stood by the people in the struggle, crisis and disaster in Bangladesh. Therefore, Awami League, as a party of the people, comes forward for public welfare. Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, Awami League sows seeds. Fruits and flowers grow from that seed. Today’s Bangladesh is adorned with those flowers. Today’s prosperity of the father of the nation Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina can be followed in the Bangladesh World Congress.

President of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League presided over by freedom fighter Masuk Uddin Ahmeder and under the direction of District Awami League Acting General Secretary Mohammad Ali Dulal and Metropolitan Awami League Acting General Secretary ATM Hasan Zebul, Presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League Syeda Zebunnesha Haque was present as a special guest as the main speaker. Central organizing secretary Ahmed Hossain said.

Also, Central Organizing Secretary Shafiul Alam Chaudhuri Nadel, Central Executive Committee Member Dr. Mushfiq Hossain Chowdhury, Azizus Samad Azad Don, Acting President of District Awami League Shafikur Rahman Chowdhury, Member of Parliament for Sylhet-3 Constituency Habibur Rahman Habib spoke as special guests.

President of Bangladesh Jubo Mahila League Daisy Sarwar, former general secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League SM Zakir Hossain and leaders of Sylhet district and metropolitan Awami League, organs and affiliated organizations also spoke.
