One person was killed in an attack in Juri Upazila of Moulvibazar district following a dispute over money of a mosque.

It is known that there was an argument with Yachin Mia and Tara Mia of the same village of the upazila during the Friday prayer on the money of the new mosque in South Chatera village of Jaifar Nagar Union. As a result of this incident, some people led by son Yashin Mia and Tara Mia attacked Jalil Mia’s house with local weapons after Iftar. A man named Jalil Mia (60) was killed on the spot in the attack. Jalil Mia’s son Qadir Mia was seriously injured. 7 people were injured in the clash on both sides.

Dr. Asit Debnath, doctor of Juri Upazila Health Complex, said that the deceased has a serious head injury. 7 people received treatment in the hospital. As the condition of 3 of them is critical, they have been sent to Sylhet Osmani Hospital. SI Anjan Kumar Das of Juri police station said that the condition of the body has been recorded. Assailant Yasin and his son in police custody are being treated at Sylhet Osmani Medical.
