Abu Zahid New, the victim, complained to the Pirganj police station that an organized gang tried to forcibly take over the SBPDF fishery project in Gopalpur Maujasth of Kabilpur Union in Pirganj Upazila of Rangpur.

It is known that the victim Abu Zahid New has been living and doing business in America with his family for about 32 years. On that occasion, the opponent Abdulahel Kafi (67), Abul Kalam Azad (42), Abul Khair Md., the son of deceased Abu Taiyab Sadek of Tuknipara village of Kabilpur Union under Pirganj Thana. Shamim (52), Rabiul Islam, Zahidul Islam (55) son of Saheb Mistry of Kabilpur village, Shahidul Islam (62) son of Khmur Uddin of the same village, Shafiul Uman Ripon (35) son of Khandkar Rezaul Karim Toha of Cherenga village under Palashbari Thana last few days. They have been trying to occupy the land by forcibly removing fish by entering the fishery project illegally. Opponents have been barricading the project manager and others and issuing verbal abuse and death threats.
Previously, several cases against the opponents including theft of fish, whose No. – 119/22, CR-166/22, MR- 130/22, CR- 226/22 are under trial in the learned court. The adversaries continue to commit various misdeeds including stealing fish from his own pond as the victim is outside the country without regard for the law.

Last April 1-2023 around 10 am, all the opponents stole fish worth 80 thousand 520 taka from his own pond and sold the fish of Parimal in Palashbari Kalibari market. At present, under the instructions of Rabiul Islam, Chairman of Kabilpur Union Parishad No. 15, his gangsters threatened the members of Ward No. 4 of that union to go to the houses of the employees working in the fishery project and not to stay in his project.

When I contacted Abu Zahid, the owner of the fisheries project, he said that due to the fact that I am out of the country, some of the clans of the area, including my own brother, are trying to take over my land and fisheries project by force. I filed a complaint in this regard at Pirganj police station. Seeking urgent intervention of higher authorities of police administration to protect my ancestral and purchased land along with fisheries project from encroachment.

In this regard, Pirganj police station officer-in-charge Zakir Hossain said, I have received a verbal complaint. Action will be taken after visiting the spot.
