The teachers of the university held a sit-in program in the meeting room of the Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University to take the individual admission test and leaving the group admission test (GST). VC was blocked for one and a half hours. After this incident, the administrative and academic activities of the university came to a standstill. In the special academic council meeting on March 15, Jagannath University decided to conduct the admission test under its own management unanimously. In order to implement the decision of the academic council on March 29, the teachers’ association of the university demanded in writing to the vice-chancellor to take necessary measures including the formation of the central admission committee by April 2 to publish the admission circular. The university administration did not take any action on the demand till April 2. Jagannath University Teachers’ Association carried out a human chain program by holding a black band in the Shahid Minar premises of the university on Monday, April 3 at eleven in the morning according to the previously announced decision to realize the demand. Chairman of various departments, teachers, officials and employees participated in the human chain. After that, they took position in the meeting room of the vice-chancellor to demand their demands. VC assured to take quick action. He assured the teachers to form the central and unit based admission committee.
