Sultana’s death in RAB custody, the High Court asked to know the names of the officers involved in the operation

The High Court has summoned an autopsy report on the death of a woman named Sultana Jasmine (45) in the custody of RAB after being detained in Naogaon city. At the same time Sultana Jasmine has been asked to submit the list of names of RAB officers under which the court has been asked.

The state party has been ordered to submit this report by Tuesday morning. The High Court bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ahmed Sohel passed the order on Monday. The court said, people are looking to see justice. And we are there to do justice.

Incidentally, Sultana Jasmine used to work as an office assistant in Chandipur Union Land Office of Naogaon Sadar Upazila. According to RAB, Sultana Jasmine was detained last Wednesday for questioning in view of the fraud allegations. He fell ill after being detained and died. However, relatives alleged that he died due to torture in custody.

Supreme Court lawyer Manoj Kumar Bhowmik brought the death of Sultana Jasmine to the notice of a bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Ahmed Sohail on Monday. After that, the High Court asked Assistant Attorney General Abul Kalam Khan Daud to find out within 15 minutes whether there was any case in this death case.

After that, the lawyer of the state told the court that no case has been filed so far. They (victim’s family) did not file any case. Then the High Court said, why do they sue? What is the responsibility of the state? This issue is being discussed across the country.

At one stage, the High Court told the lawyer for the state, we will look at the autopsy report of the victim woman and bring it tomorrow (Tuesday). And the names and identities of all the officers who took the woman into custody and were interrogated will be brought before us. We want to see if there is any negligence of law in this incident.

Meanwhile, the High Court said that people are waiting to see justice. And we are there to do justice. The court then fixed Tuesday for the next hearing on the matter.

Later, Assistant Attorney General Abul Kalam Khan Daud said that a lawyer brought the matter of the woman’s death to the notice of the High Court. I informed the court when I was asked to look into the matter. Later, the court fixed Tuesday to see the autopsy report of the woman. In addition, the court asked the name and identity of all the officials who took the woman into custody and interrogated them.
