Cox’s Bazar District registrar doesn’t talk to reporters about irregularities and corruption
SM Humayun Kabir, (Cox’s Bazar)
Cox’s Bazar district registrar Monirul Islam does not read local newspapers. Even the work of the local newspaper is trivial. He said these things to the journalists when he went to take a follow-up news statement due to the publication of harassment, irregularity-bribery and corruption in Ramu sub-registry office in the country’s national newspaper and various local newspapers of Cox’s Bazar. At that time, when he was questioned about the corruption of the registry office, he became angry and agitated. He clarified that he does not give speeches without the permission of higher authorities. This official also replied that he does not receive anyone’s phone except for the government land phone if it is not mentioned in his personal number. It is known that the sub-registry office of Ramu in Cox’s Bazar has turned into an arena of bribery, harassment, irregularities and corruption. No person gets government service in this office without extra money. The common people of Ramu are very much hostage to registry office document writer, office assistant Babla Pal and sub-registrar Mujibur Rahman. Feroz Ahmad, a resident of Fatekhanrkul, said that the work was not possible as the office assistant Babla Pal demanded fifty thousand rupees. Another beneficiary named Md. Shahid said that Ramu sub-registrar’s office took 40 thousand taka from him to execute a deed in Techchipul area through the commission. The beneficiary also complained that the execution of the document was done by sending Muhuri without going to the sub-registrar himself. Ramu sub-registrar Mujibur Rahman denied all allegations. He said that the document was executed following the government policy.
