Ambassadors of Denmark, UAE and Egypt called on Environment Minister

Winnie Estrup Petersen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Bangladesh, Abdulla Ali Abdulla Khaseif AlHmoudi; Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Bangladesh and Mina Makary, Charge d’ affairs, Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Bangladesh called on Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin in the meeting room of the ministry in Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday. Secretary of the Ministry Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Admin) Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Md. Moniruzzaman, Additional Secretary(Environment) Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik were present among others. The Minister said we have to make consensus in COP28, in Dubai, UAE on some critical climate issues. The source of fund for addressing loss & damage must be finalized at COP28. This loss and damage funds should be new and additional without any compromising the funding for adaptation needs. We also need to have significant progress on the structure and operational modalities of the loss and damage fund.
