Ways must be found to keep commodity prices normal: PM

Addressing the business leaders, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, thinking about the common people, we should find a way to bring the prices of goods to normal level and take that step. If not, they will lose their market.

The Prime Minister said that the impact of Covid-19, Russia-Ukraine war and commercial blockade or counter-blockade have faced difficult problems for developing countries like Bangladesh. Not only countries like us, developed countries are also struggling. Common people are suffering due to the pressure of inflation along with the increase in the prices of daily necessities. Business leaders should think of the common people and find ways to bring the prices of goods to normal levels and take those steps. If not, they will lose their market.
Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh will be the 20th largest economy in the world by 2026. Bangladesh is now a role model for development. Even though the whole world stopped due to Corona, our economy did not stop. Bangladesh is now a role model for development as the 35th largest economy in the world.
Addressing the investors, the head of government said that the Awami League government has given utmost importance to investment and business environment. It will be further reformed and business friendly. Red tape violence will be removed. (On that) decision will be implemented immediately.
He said, even though the whole world has stopped due to Corona, our economy has not stopped. GDP of 60 billion dollars in 2006 has now become 465 billion dollars.
Bangabandukanya said, we have to face many challenges if we are a developing country. That is why I request the business community of the country to move forward with the mentality of facing these challenges. I don’t want to hear any disappointment. We will provide necessary assistance from the government.
Sheikh Hasina said that once Bangladesh was known as a country of various natural disasters including floods and droughts. But now that is not the case. Now Bangladesh is a role model for development. In the last 14 years we have been able to make a huge change in Bangladesh. We have been able to continue the trend of development of Bangladesh even during Corona. We have proved that we can, by doing the Padma Setu with our own funding.
