BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that although Arafat Rahman was a son of a political family, he was not a politician. He was an ordinary athlete. But he had to die due to political vendetta.

He said these things after visiting the grave of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko on the eighth death anniversary of Banani Cemetery and offering floral wreaths on Tuesday morning.

Mirza Fakhrul said, Arafat Rahman Koko was arrested after the most scandalous 1/11 incident in the political history of this country. He was arrested on a false pretext in a false case.

BNP Secretary General said that Arafat Rahman Koko was the most beloved son of Nationalist Begum Khaleda Zia. We saw in what pathetic condition she (Coco) had to die. He had to leave without getting good treatment in the country.

He said, this family (Zia) is a symbol of freedom and sovereignty of the people of this country. This family is a symbol of democracy in this country. We pray for the soul of Arafat Rahman Koko to rest in peace.

Fakhrul said, we are fighting for democracy today. Many of our leaders are in jail today. About 15 of our leaders and activists have been martyred in this ongoing movement. People are united today. We believe that in the ongoing democratic movement we will succeed, win and defeat this monstrous government and establish democracy.

BNP Chairperson’s Advisor Aman Ullah Aman, Zainal Abedin Farooq, Abul Khair Bhuiyan, BNP Leader Mahasin Zillur Rahman, Nazimuddin Alam, Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Nabi Ullah Nabi, Abdul Alim Naki, Youth Dal’s Mamun Hasan, Abdul Monaye Munna, BNP Chairperson’s Media Wing member Shamsuddin Didar and others were present.
