A schoolgirl named Jannatul Akhter (6) was killed by a clumsy battery operated TomTom driver on Pail-Debpara road of Habiganj Sadar Upazila. In this incident, the local people blocked the road for about an hour.

The accident happened around 12 noon on Monday. The deceased is the daughter of Mizan Mia of Devpara village of Pail Union of Jannatul Sadar Upazila.

According to family sources of the deceased, he was seriously injured when a tomtom hit him while crossing the road near Jannatul Akhtar’s house at around 12 noon. Later local people rescued him and took him to Habiganj Modern Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared him dead in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, the TomTom was intercepted but the driver escaped. Later, when the police went to the spot and assured them of necessary measures, the crowd lifted the blockade. Habiganj Sadar police station sent the dead body to the morgue.
