Foreign Minister inaugurated the E-Gate at Sylhet Osmani Airport

This time the Immigration Electronic Gate (E-Gate) has been launched at Sylhet Osmani International Airport which is inhabited by expatriates. The Minister of Foreign Affairs officially inaugurated the e-gate at noon today AK Abdul Momen.
While inaugurating six e-gates at the port, he expressed optimism that the e-gates will reduce the suffering of all types of passengers, especially expatriate passengers. Because, there are allegations that expatriates actually face various kinds of sufferings in the country.
The foreign minister said, ‘A large number of people in Sylhet have dual citizenship. They have to speed up the no visa service.’ He mentioned the suffering and various complaints in Sylhet to get the passport and said, ‘It would be better to have another passport office here.’
Speaking during the inauguration, Director General of Passport Directorate Major General Nurul Anwar, Secretary of Security Department of Interior Ministry Abdullah Al Masud, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet. Mujibur Rahman and others.
Maher Uddin Sheikh, Director of Sylhet Divisional Passport and Visa Office, said that passengers will get fast service due to the launch of e-gate. The government has taken this initiative thinking about the expatriates.
Incidentally, e-Gate is operational in different countries of the world. On June 30, 2021, E-Gate program was first started in Bangladesh. The E-Gate installed at Shahjalal International Airport was launched at Sylhet port after one and a half years of operation. Through e-passport, a foreigner can do his own immigration without anyone’s help.
