Innocent murder of school student in Jaintapur, 15 people in jail

Masum Alam, a school student, was murdered in public at Chatul Bazar on the Jaintapur-Kanaighat border to expand the village’s single-dominance. When the defendants in the murder case filed in this incident applied for bail in the Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, the judge of the court did not grant them bail and ordered to send them all to jail.
The accused surrendered in the Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court on Monday (January 2). Meanwhile, the court heard both sides and ordered to send the accused to jail. Advocate Ruhul Anam Chowdhury Mintu and Kanighat police officer (in-charge) Tajul Islam confirmed the matter.
Meanwhile, the family and local residents have demanded exemplary punishment for the murderers in jail.
Masum Alam (19), son of Abdul Khalik, son of Chhatarkhai Uttarpara village, was murdered in front of the public during the day in Chatul Bazar on the border of Jaintapur-Kanaighat in a trivial incident like playing cricket in the village on November 5-2022 around 5 pm. A case of murder was registered in Kanighat police station in this incident. whose case is no-4. The victim’s father Abdul Khaliq himself filed the murder case as the plaintiff.
Locals said that Masum Alam was killed in a premeditated manner in a trivial incident under the leadership of Awami League leader Tafjjul Ali to spread single rule in the village. He was hacked and beaten to death in front of his father by the influential people of the area in broad daylight at Chatul Bazar. After the incident, teachers/students and local residents of Chatul Bazar demanded the arrest of the killers by making human chains. The accused also sought anticipatory bail from the High Court after the incident.
Masum’s house is in Chatairkhai village of Jaintapur upazila. Accused Ward Awami League president Tafjjul Ali and all the houses are in the same village.
But the incident took place in the area adjacent to Chatul Bazar Bridge in the neighboring Kanighat Upazila. As a result, a case has been filed in Kanighat police station regarding the murder.
Masum Alam was a class 10 student at the local Amina-Helali Technical Institute. Besides studying, he used to drive CNG autorickshaw to meet the financial difficulties of his family.
Beginning of the event-
On the morning of November 4, a game was organized with 3 teams from different neighborhoods of the village in the local Chhatarkhai village playground. As the middle team did not come to the field at the stipulated time, the game started between Uttarpara and South Para. At that time, the accused Kamrul and Russell from Majhpara came to the field. Masum’s younger brother Zahirul Alam (13), a madrasa student, was batting at that time. Zahirul’s cousin Raihan and another local player named Jabrul quarreled on the side of the field. Masum’s brother Zahirul then came forward and hit Kamrul with a stump which broke his arm. Masum Alam and her mother Malika Begum rushed to the spot after hearing about the incident. He took his injured son to Jaintapur Hospital for treatment. After the incident, the mother of the deceased innocent came to the accused Russell’s father Babul Ahmed and told the truth about the incident. Masum’s father, Abdul Khaliq, also sought justice from the Moy-Murabbians of the area. Basically, Masum Alam was murdered with a pre-planned plan to spread monodominance in the village.
The day after the incident, Masum’s father Abdul Khaliq filed a murder case in Kanighat police station mentioning the names of 15 people.
The accused in the case are Tafjjul Ali, a resident of Chhatarkhai village and president of the ward Awami League, Rasel Ahmad, son of Babul Ahmad, Kabir Uddin, son of deceased Abdul Jalil, Kamrul Islam, son of Nizam Uddin, Nizam Uddin and Babul Ahmad, sons of deceased Qutub Ali, Almach Uddin, son of Abdul Jalil, Nazrul Islam, son of Abdul Manai, Imran Ahmad, son of Habibur Rahman, Alim Uddin, son of Abdus Subhan, Manzoor Ahmad, son of Abdul Manaf, Jabrul, son of Tafjul Ali, Bashir Uddin, son of Safar Ali, Lal Mohan, Shahjahan Mia, son of Abdul Wahid, Mofiz Ali inside the village. The accused went to the Sylhet Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court to surrender on Monday as their anticipatory bail expired. The court did not grant the bail application of the accused and ordered to send all of them to jail.
