BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and member of the party’s Standing Committee Mirza Abbas have applied for interim bail in the High Court after being denied bail in four rounds in the judicial court in the case of planning and inciting attack on the police.
On Monday (January 02) the relevant branch of the High Court filed a bail application on their behalf.
Zainul Abedin, one of the senior lawyers of the accused, confirmed this information and said that an application has been made in the High Court today for the interim bail of Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas. The court has not fixed the date of bail hearing yet. It can be known tomorrow Tuesday.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge rejected the interim bail application of Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas in the judicial court on December 21. But the two top leaders of BNP could not apply for bail in the high court as the certified copy of the order was not received by the lawyer through the appropriate authority.
