David Warner became the second batsman in the 145-year history of Test cricket to score a double century in the 100th Test. Earlier this feat was held only by English batsman Joe Root. He scored a double century in his 100th Test against India in 2021.

David Warner was playing Test cricket for a long time. Until the Melbourne Test, he averaged just 27 over the last two years in whites. The last century was seen in January 2020. Warner has not seen any fifty in the last 11 innings. He has been criticized a lot because of his off-form. The Aussie opener responded to all the criticism on the second day of the Boxing Day Test.

Warner took his third double century that day. Which is joint-fourth among the highest number of double centuries by Aussie batsmen. The legendary Don Bradman scored the maximum 12 double centuries. Ricky Ponting, who is second in the list, has scored 6 doubles. Gregory Stephen Chappell, Steven Smith and Michael Clarke are joint third with 4 double centuries each. Bob Simpson and David Warner at 4 have 3 double centuries each.

Besides, he scored a century in his 100th test as the number ten cricketer. Warner broke a nearly three-year Test century drought with a blistering century against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Besides, Warner is only the second player after Gordon Greenidge to score 100 centuries in both ODI and Test formats. On the way to this century, Warner has also reached the milestone of 8000 thousand runs in Test cricket as Australia’s eighth batsman. As Australia’s eighth batsman, he also reached the milestone of 25 centuries.

On the first day of the Melbourne Test, the Proteas were all out for 189 in the first innings under the influence of Bowler Green. South Africa lost two runs in the last 7 innings. At the end of the day, Australia scored 45 runs for 1 wicket.
