If the country does not have democracy, there is no freedom: Dr. Khandaker Musharraf
Dhaka/
If there is no democracy in the country, there is no freedom of journalists, said the member of the BNP standing committee. Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, if full freedom of journalists can be practiced then there is democracy in that country.
He said these things at a prayer ceremony at the National Press Club on Sunday (December 25). Remembrance meeting and doa mahfil organized on the death anniversary of former president of BFUJ and National Press Club Riazuddin Ahmed.
Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain said, after independence, those who are in power today have destroyed all the spirit of our freedom one by one. Democracy is the basic word of the Constitution which was written in 72 which is our basic spirit. That democracy was killed and established Bakshal. As soon as Bakshal was established, all but a few magazines were closed down. Not only should journalists have freedom, there should be freedom of the press.
Musharraf said, Awami League established Bakshal in the country. BNP founder Ziaur Rahman instead established multi-party democracy in the country.
He also said that this government has disappeared more than 600 activists to stay in power. Thousands of activists have been extrajudicially killed. Over one lakh cases have been filed to suppress our voice. About 3.7 million activists have been accused in the case.
He said that the political condition, social condition, economic condition of the country has been destroyed and the country should be protected from this. In order to be saved from this, naturally those who have been in power for 14 years by force, by stealing votes, must be removed.
This former minister said that we have announced 10 points. To protect the country’s democracy from the hands of this government. I have presented the 27-point declaration proposal to the nation as to how the state structure can be repaired from what has destroyed Bangladesh in all aspects.
