Work is underway to make BGB a world-class force: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the work is going on to develop BGB as a world class force. He said this at the BGB headquarters on Tuesday (December 20).

He said that the government has adopted the ‘Border Guard Bangladesh Vision-2041’ plan to make BGB a world-class border guard force.

The Prime Minister urged every member of the force to follow the chain of command and fulfill their duties.

After visiting the parade, the Prime Minister told the BGB members that they should never disturb the order. Perform assigned duties. Obey the command. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister presented the various initiatives of his government for the BGB.

The head of government said that the global economic recession or crisis has occurred as a result of the corona epidemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. Let us not have recession or crisis here. That’s why I called each person to produce something from their own place. Glad to see that BGB followed my instructions in every BOP.

The Prime Minister expressed the hope of the father of the nation to build a developed and prosperous Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty and said that we will implement the Delta Plan for a developed Bangladesh by 2041 and by 2100.

The Prime Minister said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started the work of reconstruction and modernization of this army to make it modern. Following his footsteps, the current Awami League government adopted the plan of ‘Border Guard Bangladesh Vision-2041’ with the aim of developing the BGB as a world-class modern, efficient and strong border guard force along with the formulation of the ‘Border Guard Bangladesh Act-2010’. In continuation of this, forces have been rearranged in the organizational structure of BGB, new sectors and units have been created along with 5 regions and necessary manpower has been appointed along with bringing balance to the command level.

Addressing the BGB, the head of government said, along with border protection, prevention of smuggling; It is your responsibility to protect the lives and property of the people along the border, including combating the international crime of drug, women and child trafficking. You are performing these duties very efficiently. We exchanged enclaves in a very festive manner that no other country in the world could do. Our Border Guard has played a very responsible role in this regard.

He said that our border guard is efficiently performing all kinds of care, shelter, registration activities and various tasks of the Rohingyas who have taken shelter in Cox’s Bazar.

The Prime Minister said that smart digital surveillance and tactical smart systems have been installed at the vulnerable borders for unbiased surveillance and combating intra-state crime. The Awami League government has adopted a plan to build 1,36 km of border roads for the socio-economic development of the people living on the Bangladesh-India border and remote areas. In the first phase, the construction of 317 kilometers of road in the mountainous border area is underway. A total of 62 BOPs have been created, including four battalions on the India-Myanmar border and two floating BOPs in the Sundarbans area. It has been possible to bring 402 border surveillance out of 539 km unguarded border.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived at Biruttam Anwar Hossain Parade Ground of BGB Headquarters at 10 am on the occasion of Border Guard Bangladesh Day-2022.

He toured the entire parade ground and greeted the Home Minister, BGB officials including BGB DG and the guests present. After that, the BGB parade started with the permission of the Prime Minister.

Before that, after Fajr prayers, special prayers were held in all the mosques of Pilkhana. After that, BGB Director General Major General Sakil Ahmed formally hoisted the regimental flag of BGB at the Secretariat of the Director General and laid wreaths in honor of the martyrs of the Liberation War.

It is to be noted that on the occasion of BGB Day-2022 celebration, a grand ‘Joint Retreat Ceremony’ will be held by BGB-BSF at the ICP adjacent to the land port of Benapole in Jessore, Banglabandha in Panchagarh and Brahmanbaria on Tuesday afternoon as part of the mutual cordial relationship and trust between the Border Guard Forces of Bangladesh and India.
