Bangladesh under ‘close observation’ of the US

Around the December 10th rally of BNP, there were clashes, arrests and casualties of BNP leaders and activists with members of law and order forces in Dhaka. The residence and office of the President of the United States, the White House, has expressed concern over all these incidents.
In this regard, John Kirby, the White House representative of the National Security Council, the highest security council of the United States, said that the overall situation in Bangladesh is under “close observation” of the country. News from Voice of America and Reuters.
In a press conference at the White House on Friday (December 9), John Kirby said, “We are concerned about the reports of conflict surrounding the BNP rally, and we are closely monitoring the situation in Bangladesh.”
In addition, John Kirby demanded a full investigation of the clashes and arrests that have taken place in Bangladesh so far around the S Rally. He also urged all political parties of Bangladesh to stay away from violence.
Tension has been going on between the government and the opposition for the past few days around the December 10 rally of the BNP. In the meantime, one person was killed and more than 60 others were injured during a clash with law enforcement officers near the BNP office in Dhaka’s Nayapaltan this week. All the casualties are BNP workers.
