Rokeya Padak was awarded to 5 distinguished women

5 women have been awarded Begum Rokeya Padak this year for their contributions at various levels of society. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the medals to them at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital on Friday (December 9) at 10 am.

Ministry of Women and Child Affairs organizes Begum Rokeya Day and Begum Rokeya Medal Ceremony. The Prime Minister personally presented the medal as the chief guest.

Professor Kamrun Nahar Begum (Advocate) of Chittagong district has won the Begum Rokeya Medal this year for her special contribution to the establishment of women’s rights. Farida Yasmin of Satkhira district (born in Khulna), Dr. Afroza Parveen has received the Begum Rokeya Padak for her special contribution to the awakening of women through literature and culture.

Nachima Begum of Jhenaidah district received the Begum Rokeya Medal for her special contribution in the field of rural development. Rahima Khatun of Faridpur district received Begum Rokeya Medal for her special contribution to women education.

Each of the medal recipients received a medal made of twenty-five grams of eighteen carat gold, a replica of the medal, a check of four lakh rupees and a certificate of appreciation.
