DGFI officer shot dead by smugglers at Tumbru border

There was a clash between RAB and DGFI along with drug smugglers on the Myanmar border of Konapara in Tumbru border of Naikshyongchari in Bandarban. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said a DGFI officer was killed while on duty and a RAB member was injured in the firing by drug smugglers.
ISPR confirmed this information in a notification on Tuesday (November 15).
According to the notification, during the joint anti-narcotics operation of RAB and DGFI, there was a clash with drug smuggling terrorists in Tambru border area of Bandarban district inside Bangladesh on Monday (November 14). During this encounter with the drug smugglers, a DGFI officer (Bangladesh Air Force officer) was martyred for the country while on duty firing from the drug smugglers and a RAB member was injured.
Meanwhile, police sources say that members of DGFI and RAB-15 of Cox’s Bazar conducted a joint operation on the border to prevent smuggling. At that time, the members of Al Yakin Bahini, a separatist armed organization of Myanmar, fired at them.
When asked about this, Chairman of Ghumdhum UP Jahangir Aziz said, “There was an incident of firing in Konarpara area. A DGFI officer has been martyred, we have learned that the condition of the RAB member is critical.
