England finally beat Pakistan to win the T20 World Cup trophy. Chasing the target of 138 runs given by Pakistan, the English easily reached the port of victory with 5 wickets in hand.
Earlier, Pakistan gave England a target of 138 runs in the T20 World Cup final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Pakistan bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi made a good start by playing for the target of 137 runs. A brilliant yorker bowled by Alex Hales.
Jos Buttler, on the other hand, was terrific. Naseem sent Shah three times outside the boundary in one over. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf also returned the pill salt. However, Stokes did the main job of reducing the run gap with the ball.
Moeen Ali and Stokes took 16 runs from Mohammad Wasim in the next over. The gap between balls and runs decreased and England needed 12 runs from 18 balls. The English did not have to gain speed to complete the next task.
In the end, Stokes brought England to the port of victory with 1 over in hand. England won the T20 World Cup for the second time after defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets.
Ben Stokes proved how big a cricketer he is in yet another World Cup final. Everyone remembers the 2019 World Cup final. He single-handedly pulled out the match against New Zealand which was a sure loss. After that, whether it was a super over or a boundary count, he was the main hero to take the match to that stage.
This time it’s Ben Stokes. After the dismissal of Alex Hales, Peel Salt, Jos Buttler or Harry Brooks, when the low-scoring match was becoming difficult, he adopted the policy of keeping wickets with Moeen Ali. He may have thought that if there is a wicket, runs will be scored at the last moment.
Stokes had 28 runs from 35 balls before Shaheen Shah Afridi walked out and Iftikhar came in to bowl as an occasional bowler. At the end of the 16th over, Stokes’ runs were 38 off 39. In the end he remained unbeaten on 51 off 49 balls. So that only 1 six and 5 boundaries.
Understanding the situation of the match, sometimes being aggressive, sometimes defending, holding the game and taking the team to the port of victory, the pair of Stokes has equal weight. It is his calculative batting that brought him the crown of T20 world champion in 2022 after winning the ODI World Cup in 2019.
