Rangpur City Corporation elections may be held at the end of December or at the beginning of January, Election Commissioner said. Alamgir.

He told this to reporters at the Agargaon election building on Sunday.

EC said, in that case the schedule will be announced in November. But we want to do the election within time. I don’t want to do it at the end of time somehow.

When asked whether EVMs and CC cameras will be used in this city, Alamgir said that it will be decided in the commission meeting. Can’t say right now. However, the commission has a preliminary decision in using them.

He said that the position of the EC is that it will try to provide EVMs and CC cameras in as many city corporations as are elected. But these decisions are taken in separate meetings for each election.

The inquiry committee of the EC submitted a report to the EC Secretary last Thursday regarding the irregularities in the Gaibandha by-election. A decision on the vote is to be taken after discussion on the report.

When asked about this, Election Commissioner Alamgir said, we will take a decision on that after receiving the report. We have not yet received the report. We will sit when it comes. I will discuss and then decide.
