5 days after the abduction, the Ullapara Model Police Station recovered the half-melted body of an autovan driver named Fakir Chand (39). His body was recovered from the forest on the railway slope near Srifalganti village of Ullapara municipality late on Saturday night.
Fakir Chand is the son of Hazrat Ali of Gabgachi village of Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj. Police have detained a person named Sanjeev Rajvanshi for preliminary questioning. Sanjeev is a resident of Belkuchi upazila.
Ullapara Model Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Enamul Haque said that Fakir Chand was coming to Ullapara from Belkuchi to buy fish in the early morning of October 18. He was abducted. The kidnappers also took away his autovan. After much searching, a general diary was made in this regard by Fakir Chand’s family at Belkuchi police station on October 20. After that, on the request of Belkuchi police station, Ullapara police station went into operation to rescue the kidnapped Fakir Chand. However, the hijacked van has not yet been recovered.
In this regard, Belkuchi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jamilur Rahman was contacted and he confirmed the arrest of Sanjeev Rajbanshi.
