Women entrepreneurs are contributing abroad too: Speaker

Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury said that women entrepreneurs are contributing abroad in addition to making their own position in the national economy. Bangladesh is the role model of economic development in the world today. World renowned economists have identified the economic empowerment of grassroots women as one of the many reasons for this development. When mass employment generation in Bangladesh is a national challenge, then the small and medium women entrepreneurs of the country are the pioneers to face this challenge.
She said this while joining the ‘National Women Entrepreneurs Conference’ online at the Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Multi-Purpose Hall in the capital on Saturday. The conference was jointly organized by the National Small and Cottage Industries Association of Bangladesh (NASIB) and the NASIB Women Entrepreneurs Council in collaboration with the SME Foundation.

The speaker said that the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given special importance to the empowerment of women and the development of small and medium industries to achieve economic goals. The National Industrial Policy and SME Policy announced by the government has accelerated the development of women entrepreneurs in the country. In this case, Nasib is contributing to the economic development of the country by organizing women entrepreneurs.

Nasib President Mirza Nurul Gani Sobhan presided over the event and also spoke on the occasion, Member of Parliament Nazma Akhter, Executive Chairman (Secretary) of National Skill Development Authority Nasreen Afroz, FBCCI President Jasim Uddin, ILO Bangladesh Country Director Tumo Potiinen and others. Mofizur Rahman, Managing Director of SME Foundation, presented the main article.
