The Executive Council Elections of the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Journalists’ Association -2026 have been held.
In this, Jannati Begum, the university representative of the Daily Inqilab, and Mutasim Billah Saad, the university representative of the Daily Kaler Kantho, were elected as the general secretary unopposed.
On Saturday (December 13), at 11 am, the names of the elected officials were announced at the Journalists’ Association office by the Chief Election Commissioner of the Journalists’ Association’s Executive Council Elections-2026, the University Registrar (Acting) Professor Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman.
Assistant Professor of the Management Department Mohammad Tariqul Islam Jony and former president of the Journalists’ Association Rasheduzzaman Rony served as the election commissioners in the election.
Newly elected president Jannati Begum said, “I will do my best to protect the professional rights of journalists, strengthen the unity of the organization, and ensure objective and responsible news reporting in the next one year.”
I want to make the journalist community more vocal in favor of truth and justice by being uncompromising against irregularities and corruption.
At the same time, I believe that the Journalists’ Association will play an important role in protecting the positive image of the campus, maintaining an education-friendly environment, and showcasing the education, research, and success of our university in the country, abroad, and the world. Mutasim Billah Saad said, “This responsibility is a trust for me. I will strive to fulfill my responsibilities while maintaining respect, transparency, and ethics for the organization.”
I also want to play a role in developing fairness, ethics, and values ​​among the teachers, officials, and students of the university.
The committee includes Akhlaqul Hasan Anik, the university representative of Daily Amar Desh, as the organizing secretary, and Md. Shahidul Islam Sabuj, Raisul Arafat, multimedia correspondent of Daily Kaler Kantho, and Abdullah Al Hadi Siam, university correspondent of Ajker newspaper, were elected unopposed as the office Secretary. The newly elected committee will be handed over the responsibility through a ceremony later.
