World War III: Russia if Ukraine joins NATO
Online Desk/
Russia has warned that Ukraine’s accession to NATO could trigger World War III.
After the start of the invasion on February 24 of this year, the headache about Ukraine’s inclusion in the NATO alliance has subsided, but Russia has again given the same warning. Khabar Euractive, by Al Arabiya.
Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said in an interview with the Russian news agency Tass on Thursday (October 13) local time, that the inclusion of Ukraine in NATO could lead to the third world war.
Tass quoted Venediktov as saying, “Ukraine knows very well that such a move would surely lead to World War III.” Apparently, Ukraine is working to draw attention (of the international community) to itself again by creating informational noise.’
The Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council also spoke about the Western military assistance to Kiev in the Russia-Ukraine war. He claims that by helping Ukraine, Western countries have shown that “they (the West) are directly a party to this conflict”.
In fact, Moscow has long been pointing this out against the West for providing military aid to Ukraine. In this respect, Venediktov’s latest comments reiterate the Russian position.
