A case has been filed in Dhaka court against 6 policemen, including the then officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbag police station Abul Hasan and the then officer-in-charge (OC) of Ramna Model police station, for the death of Zakir Hossain Milon, the former vice-president of Dhaka Metropolitan North Chhatra Dal, in 2018. Application has been made.

Wednesday (October 12) Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md. Milon’s uncle BNP leader BM Oli Ullah appealed the case in Asaduzzaman’s court. Plaintiff’s lawyer Masud Ahmed Talukder said that the hearing will be held in the afternoon.

The rest of the accused in the application of the case are – Sub-Inspector Shahriar Reza, Amal Krishna, Saidur Rahman Munshi and Sujan Kumar Roy who were on duty at the Shahbag police station at the time of the incident.

According to the complaint in the case, Zakir Hossain Milon and his classmate Akram Hossain Faraji left to participate in a human chain in front of the National Press Club on March 6, 2018 around 10 am to protest against the arrest and sentence of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the case. At the end of the human chain, when the Chhatra Dal’s peaceful procession reached Matsabhavan, Milon, Akram along with other officers and members of the accused were arrested and taken to Ramana Model Police Station for torture. The OC and others tortured them even after taking them to the police station.

Later they were taken to Shahbagh police station where they were also tortured. Later they were arrested in a case of Special Powers Act of Shahbag police station. On the news of their arrest, BM Oli Ullah first went to Ramna and later to Shahbagh police station. When asked to the police station guard, he said that his location cannot be told. The plaintiff did not find Milon after searching but later found out that he was produced in the court on March 8. In the court, the police saw that Milon was injured in custody and when he presented the court, he applied for remand, and it was granted.

At that time, Milon told the plaintiff that the police tortured him inhumanly. In the meantime, the police took him to an unknown place in a van. The plaintiff could not find him even after searching the DB office, Shahbagh and Ramna Model Police Station. Later came to know that Milan is in the custody of Shahbag police station. The plaintiff did not meet the nephew despite hundreds of pleas from the defendants. On March 11, Milon was brought to the court almost dead by the police. Later the court sent him to jail. When Milon fell ill in Keraniganj jail, he was sent to DMK hospital. He died there. Later, someone informed the plaintiff about Milan’s death by phone. Later he went to Dhame and found Milan’s body lying in front of the morgue. He saw the marks of inhuman torture on Milan’s body.

However, the plaintiff complained about the delay in filing the case after so long, when the BNP and the plaintiff went to file a murder case against the police at the police station, the police detained the plaintiff for three days in an unknown place and forced him to sign a white paper. Threatened crossfire if sued. The defendants could not file the case due to intimidation of the plaintiff and his family for a long time. Gathering mental courage, in consultation with the family, he filed a case against the accused in the court.
