Goddess Durga has returned to Swamigriha Kailasa on Vijaya Dashami. However, his daughter Devi Lakshmi remained dead. Sanatan devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi on the first Purnima Tithi after the autumn Durga Puja. Today is Sunday.

Goddess Lakshmi will be worshiped in every house today. Generally, Bengali Hindu women worship Goddess Lakshmi every Thursday. It is called Nitya Lakshmi Devi Puja. Today’s Puja is also known as Kojagari Lakshmi Puja. The word Kojagari is derived from ‘Ko Jagarti’. It is the belief of Sanatan religionists that on the day of Kojagari Purnima, Goddess Nishith says in every people’s house at night – ‘Who is awake?’

According to the scriptures, Goddess Lakshmi is the symbol of wealth and prosperity. She is also the goddess of prosperity (spiritual and material), light, knowledge, good luck, fertility, generosity, courage and beauty. Hindus believe that on the full moon night, Goddess Lakshmi comes to the homes of the Hindu community to offer prayers. If Lakshmi Devi is satisfied, there will be no financial problems in the world and happiness will increase.

Since ancient times, Lakshmi Puja has been performed in the homes of almost every Bengali Hindu, starting from kings-maharajas, businessmen. On this occasion, Hindu women observe fasting. Pujas are more formalized in domestic settings than in temples. In addition to worship, footprints of Lakshmi are painted in the courtyards of houses. In the evening lamps are lit from house to house. In Bengali belief, Goddess Lakshmi is two-armed and her vehicle is an owl and she holds a store of grain in her hand. However, outside Bengal, the quadrangular Kamle-Kamini idol of Lakshmi is more common.

Various religious rituals of Lakshmi Puja will be completed in different areas including Dhakeshwari National Temple, Ramakrishna Mission and Mutt, Panchananda Shiva Temple, Gautam Temple, Old Dhaka’s Shankharibazar, Tantibazar, Sutrapur, Farashganj, Laxmibazar in the domestic environment.
