Tanvir Mahim, CoU Correspondent
An allegation of question leakage has been raised against Kazi M. Anisul Islam, a faculty member of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Comilla University (CoU). Consequently, the final exam for the sixth semester of the 2020-21 academic session has been postponed. The matter was confirmed on Wednesday (March 12) by the department’s chairman, Mahmudul Hasan Rahat. According to university administration and relevant sources, the accusation was brought to attention via an email sent to both the university administration and media personnel. The email claimed that there is a personal relationship between the teacher, Kazi M. Anisul Islam, and a student of the department, and that he allegedly assisted the student multiple times by leaking question papers. Regarding the issue, department chairman Mahmudul Hasan Rahat stated, ‘We are taking this matter very seriously. After discussing it in the academic council meeting, we have decided to postpone tomorrow’s exam. Necessary actions will be taken promptly.’ Exam Controller Mohammad Nurul Karim Chowdhury remarked, ‘I have received an anonymous letter about the issue. I have informed the administration about it. We will implement whatever decision the administration takes.’ It has been reported that discussions are underway to form an investigative committee to probe into the matter.
