“Myanmar is serious about Rohingya repatriation”

State Administration Council Chairman and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing reiterated Myanmar’s sincere political will to repatriate Rohingyas. The newly appointed ambassador of Bangladesh in the country. Md. Monowar Hossain presented the official identity card to General Hlaing last Wednesday. The head of the country’s junta government said this at that time. The Bangladesh Embassy in Naypyidaw informed this information in a circular.
According to the notification, on Wednesday morning, the representatives of Myanmar’s Political Affairs Department took the newly appointed ambassador along with the embassy representatives from the hotel to the country’s presidential palace in a formal motorcade. The director general of politics welcomed him there. The Ambassador then formally presented the credentials to the State Administration Council Chairman at the newly constructed Credential Hall of the Presidential Building. Accepting the credentials, the chairman invited the ambassador for discussion.
At the beginning of the discussion, General Hlaing Ambassador. Manowar congratulated Hussain and introduced the dignitaries of the Myanmar government present. He thanked the President of Bangladesh for sending an able and professional diplomat as ambassador to Myanmar. Along with that, he expressed hope that Bangladesh-Myanmar bilateral relations will increase further. During the discussion, various issues of bilateral relations between the two countries, such as repatriation of displaced Myanmar citizens, trade relations, increasing communication by air, land and sea, traditional and non-traditional security cooperation including prevention of drug trafficking, arms smuggling, military cooperation and public communication were discussed.
Ambassador Dr. Manowar Hussain thanked the State Administration Council Chairman of Myanmar for accepting his identity card. The ambassador sought his cooperation to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and take it to new heights.
